Kolari modified sony a 7 cr with floatting element lenses ? Are there problems using the techart af with it with it? Also how does the a7 cr work as a manual focus camera witht he leica lenses. I called Kolari to get a rental with one but they dot rent that camera out.

Hi David, I just want to make sure I understand what you meant.

When you wrote "Kolari modified Sony A7CR with floating element lenses?", what exactly are you referring to?

Are you talking about the Kolari Vision UT (ultra thin) sensor mod on the Sony A7CR?

If that's the case, the UT mod has nothing to do with whether a lens has floating elements or not. The modification changes the sensor stack to work better with rangefinder lenses, especially wide angle Leica M lenses.

I meant with lenses with flosting elements to maintain sharp focus instead of focus shift. When using these lenses with the techart. I have the 24 and 35 lux file and the 75 thypoch with floating lens elements.

I see. Yes, this happens with the Techart AF adapeter or any other helicoid (macro) MF adapter because it moves the entire lens block rather than the floating element. But this only becomes an issue at close distances. To work around it, you can set the focusing ring on your FLE lens to close distance (so the floating element is engaged) and then focus using the Techart.
