The glass is as good as it can be, and the autofocus is fast and accurate. I have taken this lens out about ten times, never in adverse weather conditions, never travelled, and the glass has never been wiped. All accessories, including the box, are included. However, note that the bottom of the nylon case is plastic and has very minor wear.
I purchased this lens refurbished from Nikon USA. There’s no concern that it was refurbished. It arrived like new, and upon receipt, I thoroughly evaluated it against my 600 TC. Rumors suggest that these lenses are often copies used for trade shows and demos, and as a bonus they’ve also been inspected by Nikon specialists.
In addition, I’ll include:
1. A two-piece Zemlin hood/cap (worth $300) is included, which I haven’t had the time to install.
2. An Alphagvd skin (worth $150) is attached to the lens.
3. An Arcs Swiss compatible lens foot with a QD release hole is also attached to the lens (some wear on this since it was bought used separately)

"2.0 TC is sharper outside the DX frame." first time I hear that. so the glass inside the TC is so different in the edges that offsets the regular sharpness at the center of the 400mm lens? did you try them with the 600mm? it sounds odd.

GLWYS.
Thanks!
You misunderstood my point. I’m not saying that the image outside the DX frame is sharper than inside it. Instead, between the two copies, the one I kept is sharper outside the DX frame, even though they are equally sharp inside the DX frame.
I tested two copies of the same teleconverter to identify the sharper one from of copy variation and copy compatibility with this particular copy of the Z 400 TC.
I’ll be posting the photos later today. Basically, it’s just from invisible dust particles in the air. The glass condition is as good as it can be, and I’ll clarify the wordings later.
