Well, this further complicates my 35mm "plans"...
I'll most likely grab one, as long as it hits the Japanese market before late summer.
I never LOVED the 35 nokton classic, but it answers so much of what I want for my ZF in a daily carry lens.

I like what I've seen from the Nikon Z, other than the size. I just don't want a big 35 since it's likely to live on my camera. I've actually been avoiding waiting to grab the SG Image 35/2.2 as soon as it's available outside China, due to the mix of small size, reasonably fast aperture, AF, and low cost.

I had two copies of 35/1.4 classic on E mount.
First one was horrible, super soft wide open. Then I had another one few months ago and used it with ETZ adapter on Zf. It was perfcet, sharp wide open, super sharp closed down.
I'm hoping for same results with this Z mount version.
I'm guessing it will cost same as E mount now, so here in UK around £650.
Its too much for me, so will have to wait another 5-6 months to catch used one.

Wowza! The best lens ever made is finally landing in the Z-land! (hastily ordering a dedicated body for it, the ZF will be perfect). It is unusual that the Z-version is slightly lighter than the E-version.

Unfortunately I just bought the 35 APO 2.0 Version 2. I do like it very much but I was on the fence for a long time since I didn't like the (big) size of it. It's too late for me to return the APO but then again, I still like it very much.

The two lenses really couldn’t be more different in the way they render a scene. The APO is blisteringly sharp, beautifully corrected with soften bokeh and no fringing.
The Classic is not. It has all those aberrations and a much rougher rendering. If that is what you were after then the APO wasn’t really the right choice, but if you were after extremely clean outstanding optical quality, the APO is the way to go.

I have the APO lenses and am now considering this 35/1.4 classic because it can do what the 35 APO can’t and vice versa. Also the Otus 35 is in my mind but that would be as replacement of the 35 APO which I don’t want at this moment.
I will say that over the several months owned the lens, I grew to like its rendering less and less and eventually replaced mine with the 40/1.2. But other than which side of the fence I fell on with regards to its personality, my thoughts in the review still stand.

Not sure if I really care about 'how it renders', I think most lenses these days are quite good to say the least. Maybe if you would compare the images side by side.
I Was looking for a (small) manual 35mm that matches my Nikon ZF. I tried the Thypoch but I didn't quite like the quality (might be a bad copy) and aesthetics, it felt cheap and was too loose in the mount. I don't like doing technical corrections in post, so in that way the APO is actually great. The biggest flaw it has is its size. The Nokton 1.4 would be a great companion size wise.
Then again, very happy with the APO. But if I would have had the choice the size would make me go with the nokton.

Which of the 35mm or even 28 mm (Voigtländer) offerings do you guys think comes closest to Zeiss ZF Distagon 35/2.0 classic? This is my main travel lens together with 21/2.8 Distagon classic and ZF100 Macro Planar. I am tired of using the FTZ adapter on Z7 (maybe Z5 or Z6III in the future).
35/2.0 seems sooo sharp, but oof bokeh lacks character in my view, 35/1.2 Nokton and 35/1.4 classic not available yet for Z. Is it worth for me waiting for the 35/1.4 classic?
I'v got the 40/1.2 already, but this is quite different from the Distagon.
Any thoughts?
