I've decided to hold onto this as I have travel coming up and didn't get much interest at what I feel is a very reasonable price.
I rented the 100-400 to compare against this, and honestly the image quality at 200mm cropped to match 400 was very close. 400 was sharper for sure, but not by much and the size and weight of this was a huge plus.
Obviously cropping beyond that the 400 is way better, but the benefits of this lens outweigh the size/bulk and tight zoom on the 100-400 in my opinion. I definitely still want more reach, but will likely take some time to think about how I want to accomplish that.

Included a couple of quick photos taken when a tiny bit of sun came out on a dreary Chicago area winter day (today) and then a cropped version of the next photo in the sequence. Updated to show wildlife/action capabilities with photo of a hawk, then same photo zoomed in 100%.
I love this lens and am on the fence about selling, but keep finding myself wanting a bit more reach without teleconverters since it's F4. The size of this is amazing and image quality is great. Perfect for travel, or carrying around all day. I'm looking for a similar condition 100-400 instead.
