Is checking shutter count still a thing in this era of stacked sensors? I'm not sure I've ever used the mechanical shutter of my A1ii so checking the count would tell you nothing about how much the camera's been used.
https://checkshuttercount.com works as noted above. It does not differentiate mechanical vs electronic. Mine reads 16776703 which seems accurate. I have never used the mechanical so those are all electronic

I tried the same website after reading your post, it showed 16768511. I don't know what the number means. This A1II is only few months old and haven't been used much. I guess I have taken fewer than 1000 pictures with this A1II.
I too use electronic shutter 99.99% of the time. I believe if you use the dust protection feature, which closes the shutter when you turn off the camera, every time you turn on/off the camera, it counts as one shutter click.
Out of curiosity I tried to check mine.
The camerashuttercount.com came back that it couldn't give an answer.
The checkshuttercount.com came back at 4168
Those were both checked with the same RAW file.
I believe the 16 million answers are errors. Especially if Douglas got it on a hardly used, few month old camera. I don't believe there is anything in the metadata to show the electronic shutter count.
My number is probably accurate for the MS. I never use the MS but I do use the shutter protect feature and that counts as a shutter actuation every time you turn off and turn on the camera. So 2000 on/off sequences over my time with the camera could be accurate.

Odd, the one I linked isn't working for me either, below is from a few weeks ago. Check shutter count came back with 4.6 million clicks ! That's definitely wrong. I shot just under 800 frames total and only one short burst of exactly 10 shots were with the mech shutter. I didn't know the dust protect feature added to the count, that's probably why mine said 33 clicks.

Sorry, I read that as 1.6m and not 16m. 1.6m would be close because based on a 2 month period where I had 375k confirmed files on an external drive.
The other links did not work for me. I shoot compressed RAW and maybe those are not readible

Doesn't matter what file I choose, I am getting the same number. So either the app doesn't like the RAW format or maybe firmware revision?

You took a lot of pictures for sure, whether 1.6 million or 16 million.. I probably shot under 70,000 total with two A1II bodies a year, mostly birds and airshows.

Mine were probably 80% birds with the rest high school sports stuff

That looks like an error to me. It is a special binary number 2^24 - 1.
