Well, in the rabbit hole of getting M42 lenses I picked a Petri 55mm f1.8 lens. They are a lens made in the 60s and 70s. The Petri breach lock mount samples are completely made out of metal, whereas the M42 lens is made out of plastic. I got a decent sample that needed some minor cleaning of the front element. I was able to clean it and took some photos around my place.
All taken wide open at f1.8. Did some basic adjustments in DXO Photo Lab 8. To my surprise, the results look decent. Are these decent and acceptable for a vintage lens wide open?
It looks like a lot of aberrations, maybe significant spherical. Is that what you want?
I had a kind of choice nearly 50 years ago to get Petri or a Nikkormat with a normal. Guess which one was better.
