If you don’t think a control surface that your palm fully rests on can sometimes move erroneously, you cannot be helped.
If this is you being polite, then you're not very good at it. Would you say to your family member, friend, or colleague at work that you couldn't care less what they think?
I think sometimes people can misunderstand each other in online conversation when perhaps slightly wrong words have been chosen, and things can go out of control from there. You don't have to believe everything that another person says or try to "win" everyone to take your view on a topic. It should be enough to present your problem or experiences, and advice, and not try to have everyone agree about every point; people are different and we all have different ways of working, preferences, habits, and priorities. Some read text and take it literally and others use words very loosely. This can create an explosive mix if people do not make an effort to keep the tone of conversation such that it's easy and pleasant for people to visit and participate in this forum. Try to not make snide remarks you wouldn't make to your wife or boss in person unless your intention was indeed to have a divorce or switch jobs.
I really doubt that many people would put up with such poisonous tone of conversation at a workplace or a home, or when having coffee between friends.

I am certainly partially responsible for this since I did question the reality of Scott's experience based on an, obviously mistaken, understanding of him only working with a Zr. I do apologize for that.

Oh, the lock switch that barely has a detent and moves off of lock if you breathe on it? That one?
This is not remotely my experience and I bought my first on 3-Nov 2021 and owned my pair of Z9 since early 2022, shooting many many hundreds of thousands of shots mainly on safari with NO or only very very few accidental releases.
To much whining about a camera that simply gets better and better. Same with the card door lock -- it is GREAT - and unlike my Z8 and Z6ii never opens unexpectedly - it is an absolute non issue to open this when I need to.
I really hope native ISO 32 is WRONG - my "need" is for the Nikon flagship to be a tool / tuned more towards low light sports/wildlife and action shooters (so a base ISO of 200 like the D3 or only the D5/D6 ISO 100) AND not studio or strobe shooting or landscape work -- that is what the Z8 (and soon the Z8ii) is for, which is one reason I own pairs of both.
My interpretation of all of this is that Nikon initially planned a simple Z9 upgrade for 2025 (previously reported on NR) and then changed their plans to do a deeper RED integration in the Z9II, which requires significantly more time to complete."
If the leaked images from 1st 2025 April are to be believed (nothing else has emerged that is believable - and YES april fools day) - overall the potential Z9ii looks great (no need to change the resolution) - good upgrades across the board - Expeed 7 AI chip (not Expeed 8) and pipes to deliver vastly higher fps, modified sensor/modified bayer layer, better EVF, 32-bit float, faster FPS, 32-bit float audio, and more. I am keen to understand what 4D autofocus tracking means.
Looks like sensor read is even faster SS faster 1/80,000th and flash sync speed 1/800th FX and 1/1600th Dx. BUT -- Precapture does not mention RAW, which is a huge complaint made by many Birders (vs Sony/Canon).I want to see the Dr and SNR test results from Photons to see the quality is at least as good.
One wonders what the special electronic components reported by Peter are and whether their inclusion means the Z9ii will include RED codecs and video tools. And of course how accurate the leak was 9 months ago.
The question is whether it is "worth" upgrading my pair of Z9 to this spec.
With "luck" there will be announcements at CP+ February 26 to March 1 at Pacifico Yokohama.

People who deserve my respect get it in spades. People who deserve derision will get that too.
A lot of people could use a lot more honesty directed at them. I don't take kindly to be called a liar and having my personal experience negated by one man's anecdotal experiences, especially when that person is a known brand apologist with a voluminous history of asinine posts.
Anyways, that's the last of it, keep talking about the fake specs and let's move on.

Asinine posts? Definitely not.
Funny how exactly everything you write about me applies to you… in spades. Starting with anecdotal.
But one thing is clearly different, you can’t even accept an apology and even less issue one. That to me characterizes a person better than anything else.
Although I agree with this generally, I have seen some pretty petty insistent comments from that folk in other threads… so I also understand where roamingscott is coming from… nothing could be taken out of context
It actually just happened right there. He/she insisted the issue roamingscott’s had with the lock with two z9 did not exist…

No, I shared the fact that I and all the Z9 owners I know have not experienced the issue being reported. Which is sufficient to demonstrate that the issue isn’t a design one but at most possibly a manufacturing issue with some units.
And I’d love to hear concrete examples of what you are accusing me of. The only thread in which I remember exchanging with you was an example of you insisting that Nikon’s lens technology was inferior to Sony’s without any data supporting the claim.

Hey this whole thread is hilarious. It reminds me of the current US administration shenanigans - you couldn't make some of the stuff up.
About as hilarious as Sony firmware updates that brick cameras and are plaqued with problems.
The rumors are about incremental but significant updates for the Mk II. No increase in pixel count, but rather a faster readout speed of the sensor. The whole story about “no mechanical shutter” goes to a new level. Lower base ISO means different things, Let’s hope for less noise overall in the new sensor. Faster AF, better tacking more RAM is always good… let’s hope more additional glass to keep us happy. An update to the vertical shutter release button and minor issues appear to be quite important. Bring it on and have the good stuff trickled down to the Z8 II.

Can we still talk about incremental upgrade when there is a change of imaging sensor?
Since the Z9 series, despite its high resolution, is about speed I tend to see resolution as a secondary attribute of the camera and would not factor it in as a criteria to decide whether it’s an incremental or major upgrade.
Most Canon users seemed to call the R1 revolutionary although it offers less compared to the R3 than this rumored Z9II would vs the Z9. Would that have changed had they named it R3II instead of R1?
A vertical release grip lock that feels more different to the touch than the on/off switch would be most welcome. The addition of a software setting for those who rarely use the camera in vertical mode would be a hard sell IMHO. Nikon got a lot of criticism from some ZR users for having cases where a physical switch visual configuration can be over ridden by a setting, creating confusion and inconsistency. It remains essential to be able to activate the vertical grip release instantly to avoid missing a shot. This is the very DNA of cameras like the Z9 designed to capture action. So software alone is a clear no go. Let’s keep those ergonomical absurdities to Teslas please. Such an awful and dangerous example of look over function.

I've been using tape since Sony made Trinitron TVs and Walkmans.
I find it indispensable in the studio and on locations. I also use gaffer's tape for holding non-photo stuff together temporarily.
