Although a 100-400mm would have made this easier to capture (I was back as far as I could go) I captured what I could of this Heron posing yesterday at a nearby park.
Nikon Z8 with Z 400mm f/4.5

This is a nice image Larry. How do you feel about removing some of the upper branches? Sometimes when I get in a situation like yours where the prime is too much lens I flaunt it and move it close for a headshot.

Nice work. Unlike Morris I rather like the upper branch that mirrors the curve of the bird.

Thanks, Morris! I thought about doing some removal, but decided to keep it as is due to the one branch somewhat mimicking its neck and head. Or perhaps I need some more sleep?
