Here, in Switzerland, it's priced at 1300 CHF new and it is not in stock (2-3 months to get one). If it's in mint condition, you could probably try to sell it for a higher price.
Additionally, the 35mm 1.4 Z is an amazing lens (if you have a good copy). Are you considering selling it to upgrade to the 35mm 1.8?
Assigning a dollar value to a lens is a tough one, it can be personal. Few things:
- $375 no questions asked isn't bad for this lens. I think this lens goes for $400-$500 otherwise in private listings, but you can double check the buy and sell forum history.
- How much is it worth it to you is subjective
The 35 ZA is a beautiful lens and you will see a downgrade in image quality if you picked up a 35/1.8. But, you will get faster AF and a lighter lens, and that is nice with a smaller camera and fast kids.
If I were in your shoes, I would trade it out...I really love the 35 ZA, but now is not the best time for a clunky 600g + lens and beautiful image quality - convenience is king
A retailer will always give you a lower price on a lens than a peer to peer sale. The retailer will reduce their offer so that they can be assured to make a profit, taking into consideration how long that lens may sit on the shelf.
The disadvantage of the peer to peer sale is that you may find there is no demand for the lens in the place you have listed it. You also have to remember shipping costs and transaction fees.
I dont necessarily want to change. If I sell it at a reasonable price, depending on my need, I was thinking of getting any budget 35mm to pair with my new 2070g zoom lens.
If it is about the same price to get another 35mm, although it js bulky and heavy, I might better off just keeping the lens...
Indeed, I might have mounted it like once a year just to check...for the last 8 years is
.
Lol
i requested to return my lens from adorama today.
depending on what i get from my 24-70 gm lens, I may just keep the 35 mm as my only 35 mm prime (not changing to a different one).
