As primarily a bird photographer, would love to find and shoot great grey owls. They don't live near me so a trip to where they are commonly seen is on my bucket list.

It's funny you mention great grey owls. A story comes to mind which I had forgotten.
I live in the Rocky Mountains in BC, Canada. We live on a few acres about 10 minutes outside a small town. We have a wood boiler in an outbuilding which heats the buildings on our property. One night around 10pm I went to load up the boiler. Something large flew overhead (spooked me) and landed in a tree.
I grabbed a flashlight to see what it was, and this owl was staring back at me. It's a lot bigger than it looks here. Probably about 36" tall if I had to guess. We sat there for 1–2 minutes looking at each other, then I saw it open its wings, drop out of the tree, and glide off into the darkness. I have never seen a great grey owl before, or since. Sometimes you get these lovely moments.
This was the quick photo I could snap with my phone.

Any state forest, national forest, refuge, or grassland that is not crowded or has been 'discovered'. As far as what to photograph-I'm good with almost anything in the right environment and conditions.

My dreams are nearly all gone now. But I did quite a lot more than most. All 7 continents, Africa safaris 20-something times, nearly 20 trips to Central and South America. Many dozens of photo trips in North America and various islands from far south to far north oceans. I never saw aurorae since I'm always in the local summertime of the hemisphere. I didn't bother much with a camera in Europe or the few places I've been in East Asia.

A few things come to mind:
- I have a portrait series I would like to pursue.
- I am in Canada, I would like to a collection of our National Parks.
- I also have an idea for a collection of city scapes.
