For me, it was the weight balance of the Z 70–200 S lens. On paper, it’s much heavier than the Sony GM II, but in hand it felt almost the same. I passed on some great second-hand deals and now I’m kicking myself.

It's the same with the Sony bodies that are supposedly lighter in weight. The ergonomics are so bad they feel heavier than similar Nikon or Canon cameras and you end up with more hand strain.

Moving from the D810 to the Z8, on safari the eye-tracking was absolutely mind blowing. I could very, very quickly compose the shot exactly how I wanted and the keeper rate was in the 90%'s.

That I am done with DX. Have used both FX and DX for differing purposes for a long time. I loved the results from my 7200 with the 35mm 1.8, 17-55 (way underrated but heavy), AFP 10-20 and 70-300 made for an incredible kit. I moved it all after going mirrorless and went to Z50. My excellent DX kit is going in the mail today. Always had a few tactical DX lenses and would try and only buy FX lenses for dual purpose, just don't want to anymore. I really wanted to like the 12-28 as this was the foundation of the new kit with mostly FX at moderate and telephoto, but just couldn't get there.

It's not really new, but I'm rather tired of "online photographers" proclaiming nonsense about cameras and lenses when many have not even an engineering degree, nor design, manufacturing or testing experience. Apparently the U-Tube does no background checks.

That I need to shoot locally more often, especially in autumn.
This year I took one week off work in mid October and didn't travel anywhere - it was great and I could have easily spent another week just taking pictures within a 90-minute-drive radius.

……and now for something completely different…(Monty Python reference)
After having a camera in my hands for many years I found a type of photography where I’m again, a complete amateur - Deep Space Astrophotography! It requires a whole new set of skills, equipment, software and learning curve! The post processing in many cases is more important than the capture, but the results are spectacular!

Lighting first, subject second as my decision process for taking the shot or even just grabbing the camera.
I only have so much free time and multiple hobbies. Am finding I get way more out of my limited camera time by using good lighting as a go/no go for photography (family gatherings excepted). Probably incredibly basic for everyone else here but didn't really resonate with me until recently.
