p.1 #1 · Homage to the lone tree of the Southwest (US)
This is one of my long-time projects; I always keep an eye for these interesting trees in my wonderings around the Southwest. These lone trees grow in the most unusual places, often in the desert. And sometimes the weather cooperates . Here is a short list of the ones I like the most:
#1: Fiery sky and lone NM tree
#2: Quiet wintering. This one got me an honorable mention in the 2025 NM Magazine competition
#3: Southwest patterns
#4: Fall in the southwest way past the aspens colors peak

Nice work with one of my favorite subjects. My wife rolls her eyes when I spend too much time shooting another tree - what am I going to do with all those tree shots??

I totally get you (I get the same stares)... this has become an obsession.

Love this project!
My favorite is #6, the one with the little ellipsoid "sinkhole" the tree is on the edge of is "offset" toward the left side of the frame while the tree canopy is also an ellipsoid offset from the trunk in the opposite direction.

Thanks @Lee Saxon, @AZHeaven, @junglialoh. I know that most of the posts here are about grand landscapes, and of course I shoot those too, but I also enjoy more intimate landscapes with a strong subject (a.k.a., the "tree").

These are all fantastic Igal. This kind of imagery always captures my attention. You have presented the subjects really well here in each unique image. Excellent work.
