p.1 #1 · Where to get Voigtlander lenses serviced?

I just called Cameraquest who sells voigtlander lenses and asked if they service lenses. They were so freaking rude...asked me where I bought it and I said B&H and they said contact B&H because we don't service lenses from them. WTF? I just need a repair.

Any help would be appreciated. I tried Key Glass in SF but who were the ones that directed me to CameraQuest in LA. I'm in the Bay Area.

Thanks … guess I have a little paper weight now. Still they could have not been assholes about it the way they talked to me.

I asked B&H once. They referred me to "Photo Village" in New York. They're listed in the facebook page for Voigtlander USA (https://www.facebook.com/voigtlanderusa/).

I have had some work done on CV glass here (and other lenses) and work has always been top notch:

CV makes some wonderful amazing lenses at a good price, I have quite a number of them, but their economic model is that lenses have a life cycle, and you can upgrade to the next model many of which are distinct improvments. This means like so much of what we buy it is essentially disposible with time. Leica on the other hand has very expensive things and in many instances decades old lenses can be serviced by them and third parties. If you look at the Leica classic store you will see many old lenses serviced and made as functional as possible, this sets Leica apart. For this the entrance fee is high, sometimes Leica is better than CV sometimes not, Fred has many reviews showing wonderful CV glass. But with time CV lenses become problematic more than Leica and so I hope my CV lenses last but for 1k$ or less average they are probably not lifetime purchases. CV model like laptops and other electronics expects we will just buy another. The other thing to consider if you pay perhaps 300-500 to service a leica lens but that lens is worth several or more thousand dollars it is a good move, if you spend the same for 700 dollar lens it is probably better to just buy another, or a great used one for less than that.

I barely had this lens (40 nokton) for 1.5 years and rarely used it. Focus ring locked up for no reason. I actually wanted to just get rid of it after repairing because I never really use it so pretty frustrating that service is the expensive and so hard to come by. The main lenses I use are Leica lenses.

not good, a lemon lens, it should be good much more time than that many years would be right, I just assume CS are not for the ages like the vintage Leica, I was just outside using my leica rigid,......still surprisingly good 60 years after it was made, the rigid is a photographer's joy.
