Yes, the Arctic is a beautiful place, that needs to be protected and respected. It is a fragile land.
I have been fortunate to have done several photographic trips and hiking/canoeing trip in the Arctic part of Europe, Norway and Sweden. I don't know what it is but the high North keeps pulling me back. As soon as I return from a trip I immediately start planning a next trip. I love the North.
What I like to do is multiple day hiking/photography trips in the arctic region of Scandinavia. I did several 2-week hiking trips in Northern Norway and Northern Sweden, and photography is a big part of this arctic experience. So far I only visited in summer and late Authumn, I wish I can visit the North in winter some time.
My last hiking/photography trip was 2024, a 12 days solo hiking in the Sarek national park in Northern Sweden. I hiked 12 days through the park, and only met a few other hikiers on the first day and last day of the hike. For 10 days in a row I was on my own, enjoying the beautiful landscape. That is what the Arctic means for me. Pure nature, solitude, wide landscapes. Some images from this trip in below flickr link. https://www.flickr.com/photos/62121798@N08/albums/72177720320535490/
This your I hope to go back to Arctic Norway, and hike the Northern section of the Nordlandsruta, Norways longest hiking trail. A 15 day hike, 300 km distance through the mountains and valleys along the Norwegian/Swedish border. I'll be carrying a 25 kg backpack with tent, 15 days of food and almost 6 kg of camera gear.
