p.1 #1 · Canon R5 mark ii register people priority
For all the R5mii users out there, I am wondering how reliable the people priority is? I have found plenty of information on the action priority, but only a few shorts on register people priority.
This seems like a great feature if you want to focus on just one person during a sporting event, like soccer or basketball. I am also curious if you can assign a dedicated button to turn this on and off?
Is it more gimmicky or has anyone found this to be very useful?

I tested it once with children around 10 years old. It did not work very well. Often it did not recognize the person fast enough so I have stopped using it. If this is due to some setting on the camera or that it just is not very useful I don't know. I really don't see a need for it either, the R5mII is so fast and easy to set focus on the correct person so I don't miss the function.

Thanks for your insight.

When you used this feature, did you take photos to use or use pre-taken photos?

I aimed the camera towards the person to register and then the camera learned that persons face. This is easier since a photo can show the person looking a bit different than during the actual photo occasion. Think haircut, hat or similar.
