a fish soup, oysters, crab cakes, some lobster stuffed pastry, seafood stuffed perogies (never had those before) and bacon wrapped sea scallops made for a good meal.

Taken with the A7RV + Viltrox 20/2.8 Air, f6.3, 1/15, ISO 1000, Exp -1, JPEG, Handheld, standing on a chair at the edge of the table with my left foot on the table, holding the camera above the plates. In other words no high tech set-up, no flash, just an incandescent ceiling lamp. You can see in the photo that the camera was not quite parallel to the dinner table surface.

Thanks for the insight. I imagined that you might be doing a acrobatic position to grab this shot. Kudos!!
My focus was on the plated food and how they complimented each other, yet displayed a seperate but equal deliciousness, and the center most table top decoration.
Again very well seen and composed!

Hi Dan,
this indeed turned into a session of the art of food display
The choice of different plates was random, however the location of the piece de resistance, the oysters, was deliberate. My wife had lots of fun creating the salad bowl design. Soup bowls and the cakes and perogies had to flank the rest. The main point was that it tasted delicious.
