p.1 #1 · Megadap ETZ21 Pro+ - firmware 2.0.4

Noticed that version 2.0.4 was released on Dec 5th.

A couple changes, including 'optimized focusing' while zooming, and a way to dial-in the IBIS performance for manual lenses without electronic contacts.

Get it here:

Is there a way to get Exif Data with the Nikon Zf the etz21pro+ and a not chipped lens?
I set up the not chipped lens (thypoch simera 28mm) in the zf menue but since the update to 2.04 the exif shows a 30mm lens. Before that it always showed the last chipped lens that was mounted before mounting the Simera.

It would be nice to have at least the correct focal length in the exif data.

Can anyone help??

Did you try the technique mentioned on the update page for matching the focal length to the IBIS?

PS
I just tried it and it looks like it recorded the focal length that I set correctly. It does not record the lens model, however.

Yes, sure I tried that. But you cannot set 28mm :-( the next best thing is 30.... Or am I mistaken?

Ah, I see. How strange that they have omitted 28mm.

I've recently updated because I got that loss-of-focus-while-zooming issue. Even when just turning the zoom ring.
My first test with v2.04 seemed to have completely fixed that but except for this one time, nothing has changed. Whenever I zoom, there is a high chance focus just locks at a distance and can only be changed through restarting the camera.
Has anyone else experienced that and maybe even found a fix?
From what I've read, contacting Megadap is useless.

Camera is a Nikon Zf, lens the Sony 28-70/2 GM.
Interestingly, my Funmount (Neewer) adapter doesn't do this. It's very slow but it's completly unphased by zooming.

Just use a dumb adapter and have the non-cpu section filled out and the lens selected. If your lens focal length is reported to the camera incorrectly, IBIS won't function its best.

I don't shoot zooms but I wonder if this focus while zooming bug is broader than zooming? In my case, I have this intermittent problem which is hard to reproduce and troubleshoot, which can be related:

I have a full set of E-mount Voigtlanders covering the 21-75mm range. They are "chipped" but manual focus. The problem is: sometimes (rarely but enough to be mentioned here) they report the wrong distance to the body via the ETZ+ adapter, leading to a fairly severe front-focus. Severe enough to be clearly seen in the viewfinder: the focus box turns green on a visibly blurry target. Unpleasant, but doesn't lead to any surprises, I just power-cycle and continue shooting.

But when I take a photo focused via the focus box for later analysis, this phantom focus point consistently appears off by the same distance against the actual focus field. The delta is not random, as if there's a math error in code somewhere. Could be a lens, a body, or this adapter.

@old-gregg
I've used the Megadap with the Voigtländer 50/2 APO and 110/2.5 APO, as well as the Zeiss Loxia 25/2.4 and I've never noticed a mismatch between focus confirmation and actual focus. It's as good or bas as with any other lens.

I too did not experience this with my Z8 and APO Voigtlanders. I am seeing it maybe every 100 exposures or so with the 40mm f/1.2 Nokton and the Zf. That's why I said at the end "could be the lens, or the body, or the adapter". Another theory I have is that it could be related to subject recognition in MF mode. IIRC it only became available in recent firmware versions. I haven't had this problem with subject recognition disabled. Again, too many variables to isolate where the problem is.

When trying to update, I noticed that my copy already shipped with firmware 2.0.4. That was quick, since I ordered it back in mid-December.
