Man, I guess that don't make them like they used to. Years ago my tripod mounted Minolta (can't remember which 7 series it was) was ran over by a charging moose. Had a Sigma 400/5.6 on it. Nothing got damaged which did surprise me. Are these all plastic now or something?
It's supposed to be magnesium alloy, so should be stronger than plastic, but it's possible for anything to break if it hits in just the right spot.

Yea, I will make sure I can buy one in the future!

Something obviously got jarred loose inside. I have had some other spills with no issues.

I believe once they accepted payment they are accepting the coverage. It's up to them to verify eligibility.
That is what I tried to tell them. But they are the big company and I am one customer. One customer telling others about my experience with Canon. I will say Canon has for the most part has been good to me to be fair. However, taking the money and not telling me I was not eligible to buy the CarePac really irks me.

That’s some serious horse**** if they took your money for a service they were never willing to provide.
I agree 100%. But they were not going to budge. They are supposed to refund my CarePac money, but of course that will take a week or two. They can take your money instantly.....

From Canon's CarePAK terms and conditions:
“This Service Contract covers Products purchased as new or factory-refurbished and manufactured for use in the United States...”
The terms indicate that the person applying for CarePAK must purchase the product from an authorized Canon dealer. Those conditions would then exclude gray market and used products from coverage. You could dance around that by having the original buyer purchase CarePAK and send it in for you. Not a handy situation unless they live next door.
If you just read the page with the CarePak info it does not make that clear. I had the original receipt from an authorized dealer and it was purchased within the 90 days so I thought I was good to go. Live and learn.

Some buttons were recessed in the body after the fall so obviously things got jarred inside.

I don't they can legally do that. I sold service contracts on copiers and if a customer made a change and I deposited the check I was bound to it or reject the agreement. How much time passed between when you paid and your claim for repair? If enough time has passed for them to reject your application for the the extended warranty I don't see how they can reject your claim.

Hello, just a small rant or disappointment. Did you know that if you buy, like I did, a camera from someone either on this site or anyplace if your name is not on the original receipt you can not buy a CarePak? I bought an R5II it was 30 days old, I had the original receipt that showed the purchase date. I was within the 90 day window to buy and I did buy through the Canon website. So fast forward, I had a spill with my camera, and yea I had a CarePak, sent it in and they informed me my CarePak was not valid as my name was not on the original receipt. Unfortunately, I bought both my RrII's that way and both of my CarePaks! AND, they took my money for the CarePaks, let me activate them and never said, by the way, these are not valid....
If you read the CarePak info it says must be bought within 90 days of original purchase, it is not clear you have to be the original purchaser.
I guess I'm paying for the repairs. Just wanted to put it out there so nobody else makes the same mistake I did. To be fair, I have not received it yet, or anything saying I will, but Canon said they would refund the CarePak costs.
Have a Happy Holiday Season and Merry Christmas!

I'm late to the thread, but the terms and conditions state this:
"This Service Contract covers Products purchased as new or factory-refurbished and manufactured for use in the United States" and there is a checkbox that say you read the terms and conditions that must be checked before you progress to the payment section.
