Canon R5 II — why doesn’t Canon include a one-touch button for the pre-capture option when it’s available on the R6 III? Any thoughts on why it’s missing and whether a future firmware update might add it?
New features get added with new models, and the R6 MK III is just out the gate. It was a similar situation when the R6 MK II bested some of the features of the aging R5.
Assuming this is accurate, it is certain to be a feature update of some kind if it actually gets a press announcement.
Canon has not historically been known for adding new features via firmware except in rare cases (the big 2.0 firmware updates for the EOS 7D and 5D Mark II come to mind) but the R3 and now the R1 and R5 II have been exceptions.
If this happens, I could see them adding something like one-touch pre-capture or even open gate recording, assuming the cameras are capable of it.
