p.1 #1 · Post sunset at White Sands

We quickly scouted White Sands National Park at about 11am today before settling in and came back for sunset. While seeing the amazing scenery with the naked eye is great, placing my camera to my eye and framing had be in awe. This is my faverate composition. We will spend a good part of the day in the park tomorrow and unfortunately there is no entry till after sunrise so we will have to take advantage of the late afternoon light which was very nice with the blur hour outstanding today.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Neat! I want to go there and yes, the unfortunate timing issues concern me and my photographic goals too.

The entry after sunrise was a huge disappointment when I visited WSNP. I think it's possible if you camp there?

It’s an amazing place for sure, glad you get to experience it, Morris. How did your shoot go when you went back?

Thank you Sean,

You can get a wilderness camping permit and then hike the wilderness trail and stay overnight at a designated camp ground and be there in the morning.

Yes you can camp with a wilderness camping permit and stay over at designated campsites.

Thank you Ross,

The low angle of the sun in the winter provides strong shadows that allowed me to capture the three dimensional look of the dunes during the day and sunset was magical. I'll be posting photos once processed. I've got quite a backlog after shooting Bosque del Apache on the same trip.

Happy Holidays,

Morris
