I was trying to help a friend to buy new compact flash memory card for her old canon 5d3, 12 year old technology and am surprised to see 32gb sandisk cf card going for 30 at bh. I remember paying that much years ago. What happen to these old technologies? Should I keep all my old gear in hope of price increase in the future?
I am aware the 5d3 has a sd card slot but her was broken.
She is simply an old retired lady with little to no income, trying to go back to an old hobby.
I'd probably keep them around in case you want or need to use older cameras. Doubt youre going to make much selling them now or later, and they don't take up much space
Probably some parallels between this and old floppy disks, it's pretty interesting to read about old floppies in use to update 747's, among other things
Pretty generic 8gb Transcend ~$25 on Amazon when I last looked, my guess is its made for older machines that use cf cards. I have an interest in older bodies, and like to keep some around
The price of any item is largely based on the quantity made in a manufacturing run, or in a year. I think CF cards are being made in way less numbers now, hence the cost change.
