Another excellent portfolio of images.
Looking forward to my own 20 night Antartica trip in just over 3 weeks, how were the weather conditions for NOV?
I've just sold one of my kidney's to fund this trip!

I had great weather. Drake Passage was very calm, 1-2m waves most of the time both ways. When I was asleep, I think we had some 2-3m waves when I woke up briefly but I took sleeping pill so I am not sure Certainly according to ship staffs, we were very lucky. We had a couple of cloudy days and several bright clear sky days but Weddell sea was choked full of ice unfortunately so we did not quite get to complete the itinerary as planned. It was about -10c in the morning and -3 to -4 in the afternoon.
However, in comparison to my last trip which was over Christmas/New Year, this time we get nice sunset/twilight that went on for hours. One shot with petrels on ice was taken at 11 PM. Last trip in late December, we had bright day light pretty much 24H a day and I think one or two afternoon that had a little late afternoon light that did not last very long.

Very nice set, looks like a wonderful trip! Love that you were able to capture those penguins in the sunset light.

Wow,
you were indeed very lucky with those conditions, friends of mine went last NOV '24 and couldn't leave Ushuaia for 4 days due to horrendous weather conditions! And sadly this was just a 12 day cruise, cut down to 8.
Agree the upshot of these shoulder unpredictable months are the longer sunset/twilight hours that your images nicely depict.

Yes, November is a bit tricky but with Drake Passage you never know. During the same week, a friend was also stuck an extra day in Punta Arenas as her flight to Antarctica could not take off due ot weather.
The downside was that there was pretty much no wind so during the crossing, I did not see a single albatross
But I supposed not getting sea sick and being miserable both ways is well worth it
Our boat's schedule was a bit strange. On my last trip, we had 2 excursions daily, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Nothing scheduled after dinner. On this trip, we spent some mornings traveling so on a few days, our excursion was in the afternoon and
2 ice walks and 1 zodiac trip after dinner instead so lots of chance to take advantage of twilight hours photographing not just from the boat.

opps something went wrong with coding. Not sure why the reply showed up like this .

What focal length lenses do you use, recommend taking? Did you use Pol or ND filters?
