p.1 #1 · Sony A1 II shooting still photo and video simultaneously??
I read that Sony A1 II, and maybe a few other Sony bodies can record both stills and video simultaneously using a feature called "Dual Rec". This is without using an external recorder. Does anyone know where in the camera this feature can be activated? I looked through the menu in the camera but couldn't see it.
I have a buddy who uses his A1II to take still pictures and record 4K 60 to an external Ninja recorder (not to the A1 II itself) simultaneously, He said Sony limits the video recording to an external recorder to 4K 60, not the 4K 120 the A1II is capable of. I know ZERO about videos but am becoming interested in shooting some short 4K 120 video clips of birds and airshows.

Dual Recording is a feature on some Cybershots, RX100VII for example. It's not on the interchangeable lens cameras.
You _can_ save a still from the video while filming or extract one while reviewing video. Look up Shot Mark in the online Help Guide.
Thank you very chiming in. Someone (a long time Sony user that has credentials) on Facebook, in answering a similar question, stated the A1II and A1 can record video internally and shoot still photo simultaneously but the video is restricted to <4K. He tried to explain the step to set it up to record video internally and shoot still photo simultaneously but I didn't quite follow what he was saying.
I have a friend who records 4K 60 to an external Ninja recorder AND takes still photos simultaneously in his A1II, but the video part is not recorded in the camera.
Just tried and it works. Perhaps he has a different process, because this worked in 8K also, giving a 33MP 7680x4320 jpeg from 8K. Good to know the option is there, though you've always been able to extract stills from video footage in-camera and I've never used it.
