Thinking about going with some newer flashes just to upgrade since I’m working with the R52 now, but was certainly able to use one 580EX and two EXII flashes with the R5 bodies before. Is it worth going with the EL-10 or EL5? What about Godox? No experience with them but seems like lots of folks use them.
Words of wisdom would be appreciated. Using this for team pictures for our church’s Upward Basketball league (two stands at 45 degree angle with reflecting umbrellas, one flash on the camera).

Choose Godox. The system is much more flexible and far more expandable, offers significantly more advanced wireless control, and provides a modern, up-to-date interface across its latest releases. It is much cheaper as well...
If your only need is to do a group photo of a basketball team, I'd stick with what you have.
In my mind, that setup speaks manual flash to me, and you won't see any improvement with newer units.
Also, check out the buy/sell where you can pick up the newer Canon RT flashes for decent prices.
I see some 600 RT's for good prices, with build in radio triggers. These are great for extra power on a lightstand with a modifier.
I have Godox, and use them, but I much prefer the Canon RT's.
Recently, I upgraded my lighting to the Westcott FJ system and I have added an FJ-80 to my off-camera arsenal. The FJ-80 works seamlessly with Canon, and offers significantly more utility than the EOS Flash System for a significantly less investment.
I would grab a refurbished EL-5. Its a perfect match for an R5II. They did have some issues upon release such as battery draining and dropping connections. Those issues have been corrected via firmware and have left this flash underappreciated for how good it really is. https://www.usa.canon.com/shop/p/refurbished-speedlite-el-5?silent_login=1766590068165
