Anybody else happy to see this? I ordered one immediately, and it seems to have gotten lost on the way. Peak Design was really cool about it and sent a second one that isn't here yet, but I ordered a "third" one from B&H and it arrived today.
I went with the Long "Amber" strap, as I'm 6'2" and wanted something kinda classy. That's the B&H order. The Peak one is black.
Anyways, onto the strap itself. The new lower-profile clips are way sleeker. The split rings and small guards for them are really nice. The strap looks and feels fantastic! I'm using it on a Nikon ZF, and it seems about perfect.
I had been chasing down a simple and elegant strap for a few months now, and I think I may have found it.
Yeah it certainly wouldn't be great with heavy stuff. I'm but gonna put any 2.8 zooms or other heavy glass on my ZF. This is a strap for a smaller camera- mirrorless or rangefinder with small glass.

I have not used it — and I did not realize that PD was selling a leather camera strap.
I have mixed feelings about it.
On one hand, I like the idea of making things like that from natural materials rather than synthetic fabrics with their environmental issues. And there is an undeniable charm about good leather products. I also like PD’s clip system — I use it on my straps, too. In particular, it makes it quick and easy to switch between a neck strap and a wrist strap on my XT5.
I do wonder a bit about practicality and functionality. That strap is pretty narrow. That’s fine for a very small and light camera — and can be an asset when trying to keep your load small for travel. But, as pointed out above, I think the narrow width would be pretty uncomfortable for use with all but the smallest cameras and lenses.
PD makes a lot of fine gear, and I own several of their bags in addition to their wrist straps and a a couple of their neck straps — one narrow like this for travel and the other wider and more heavy duty. But sometimes they can get distracted by a sort of form over function esthetic and/or produce over-engineered designs.
I only enjoy really simple straps. I don't like having dual adjusters, I don't like having "gripper" strips, I don't like shoulder pads. Even with big DSLR and a 2.8 zoom, I want a simple no-frills strap.
Back in the early days of Peak Design, they had a really simple strap that I loved, but got fancy and is now more complex than it needs to be.

Can't get much lighter and simpler than the PD slide lite model. I have one for travel that I alternate with my wrist strap on my XT5. It is about as minimal as you can get
It looks nice, but I can’t imagine it’s too comfortable if you wear it for a long time. I love my Peak Design Slide strap, it almost disappears while wearing it

I think I misspoke in my earlier post. I believe that my light strap is their Leash model, which really is very minimal. It is most certainly not designed for heavy gear nor, in my view, for heavy use even with smaller cameras. But it is very light and simple.
I also have a heavier Slide model that I sometimes use with my XT5 when working with larger/heavier zoom lenses.
Since my main use of the XT5 is street and travel, I most often use one of their wrist straps. A quick look at their website didn’t turn up the one I use — it is not one of the leather or rope versions I see there now… so I can’t speak to those models.
This worked just fine on cameras like Nikon D700, Canon 5D, and chunkier mirrorless bodies, but the large buckles kinda got in the way on more compact cameras.
They also had a slimmer version for smaller cameras- I picked up the last one he had in stock as he was shutting down the company, and it was a MUCH better fit on mirrorless/smaller cameras. This was damn-near perfect in my book. Slim, simple, understated. With small cameras and small lenses (how I shoot 99% of the time), it's comfortable for all day carry, walking around subtropical locations in (South)East Asia.
A few months back, when I got the ZF, I just didn't like how the upstrap KIS felt/worked on it. The buckles seemed clunky against the camera's design.
I tried a few different alternatives. PGYTech (makers of many fine drone accessories) has a strap system that seemed interesting, but ultimately I didn't jive with it.
I picked up an off-brand imitation of the OG Peak Design with the super simple design i liked... Used it on a recent Thailand trip, and it was great, but I ultimately didn't trust this $14 knockoff to hold my Nikon.
I saw this new leather PD, and while it's not my preferred material, it was otherwise perfect in my eyes. EXACTLY what I'm looking for.
I ordered one direct from PD (they were the only place that had the LONG straps in stock on launch), and they even had a mil/LE discount through ID.me... Unfortunately, that one got lost in the mail. PD was very quick to toss a second package in the mail for me, and it arrived a few days ago. Alongside the B&H order I placed (they had a used Long on their site) as a backup. I now have one in black, and one in Amber. They are gorgeous, feel (and smell!) great, and it's literally exactly the strap I've been wanting for a decade. I could not have done it better myself.
