Some poor bird went to all the trouble of making this beautiful nest then laying an egg in it, but unfortunately it ended up on the ground in our back garden. Either it was blown down by wind or knocked down by a squirrel or predator of some kind. The egg was cracked on the bottom, so no hope of ever hatching.
