I read they may be even stronger tonight. Unfortunately where I live in the eastern Great Lakes region we’re getting snow, rain and cloud cover. We usually get a good show from these solar storms.

Same here in upstate NY, sadly. Completely clouded out last night and some lingering snow/rain has us looking pretty cloudy tonight as well. Ugh.

Got some aurora borealis, but not much, last night
I was out there freezing my butt off from 7pm to midnight waiting and waiting. I got nuthin.
At least I got a 1.5 mile hike in around the lake I guess.
Had to laugh at the cell phone photogs. Several of them asked if I had gotten any great pictures and I just said I hope I will if it ever shows up.
Then they show me their pictures they just took standing next to me and said "Sure it's there, look at the picture I just took!"
Was nothing but blotchy cell phone noise of the light pollution from another town about 20 miles away on the other side of the mountain.

We saw it in SC - near the GA border. Harder to see here since there aren't clear views of the horizon to the north. The storm from spring 2024 was much brighter. A few snaps from Tuesday night. Not the greatest as I didn't have my tripod so made due as best I could. First is handheld. Second 2 propped on the fence. I didn't stay up until it peaked at 1a 11/13 so don't know what was visible last night / this morning.

Yep, Tuesday must have been to big event. I didn't even bother looking because I didn't think we'd be able to see it. But then I started seeing all kinds of pics from Tuesday night and couldn't resist when they said it should be even stronger last night.

It must have been pretty bright though to see it in all the light pollution there in the photograph, it was up over 30° or so in photographs from a fairly dark rural location here. Glad I wasn't the only one photographing it hh Tuesday!!! Not very happy I missed the G5 storm 2024

Yeah I really didn't want to mix up aurora and light pollution, but I dont think there's any way what I saw in photos was just light pollution the way it changed. Located Polaris, to look the right direction, stayed out for hours shooting if I thought it looked red (or maybe if I got bored,) it showed up a couple times, once for awhile, basically even got it naked eye. Then battery died
I had it all nailed down pretty good Wed, wish id been that prepared Tuesday, really could have gotten more interesting photos i think. Have a clue how to take aurora photos now i guess

Yesterday about 11pm-1am...Clouds would sweep in...leave...sweep in..leave.......25-40mph gusts from the NNW..The lights in the lower right are from Baltimore which is about 50 air miles from me. Looking NNE
This is a County park situated on a very high hill that overlooks 360degrees...Tripod- Canon 1Dx EF70-200f2.8, lawn chair, down jacket and a few "brewskies" with my neighbor Paul and his Texas longhorns.
I do not know how to do video(1Dx) so I missed out on the shimmering waves of red and green light across the sky. My ignorance. Should have thought further ahead a bit.

Well I'll be damn! I actually did catch a little bit of it on my last frame for the night and didn't even know it until just now.
Not anything great like what we come to expect but from SC I'll take it!

The evening of 11/11 was better than the October 2024 event, easily visible to the naked eye even within the confines of light pollution along the front range of Colorado north of Denver. We got clouded out the next night.
