Northern skies were on fire tonight! The aurora was visible to the naked eye as a deep red glow on the horizon, with hints of green near the base. One of the most surreal skies I’ve ever seen from this far south.

Thanks Al! Yeah it's been quite the show throughout the whole state. I've seen some amazing photos all over Facebook and Instagram. Hope we get some opportunity tonight again and hope you get some nice ones!

Yes Sreedhar, I believe so. There were a couple massive Coronal Mass Ejections a couple days ago that interacted with the upper atmosphere. I just learned this as far as the colors involved:
