I decide on the camera based on the available lenses. Leica provides the fewest options when compared to Nikon, Canon, or Sony. For lighter weight check out the OM-1 cameras and Olympus MFT lenses which cost half as much and weigh half as much.
Autofocus is important to me and the best mirrorless autofocus are found with Nikon, Sony, Canon, and OM-1 cameras. These have subject detection that works exceedingly well.
If you know the difference between Nikon binoculars and those made by Leica (or Swarovski and Zeiss), well if there was that kind of difference in the sensors and CPU etc. inside of a Leica camera body versus a Nikon, then you’d have a superior camera system. But it isn’t so. I’d buy the Leica binoculars or spotting scope any day of the week, but not the camera system. Just my opinion, it’s doubtful it’s worth .02!

I bought the Leica lenses. The fact I like the bodies as well is just a bonus.
I agree with those who say it can't replace a system. A Q3 could compliment a Nikon system as a high resolution, relatively portable, optically superior side camera. But there would be an immediately loss of versatility, functionality, and performance that would be problematic. worse video, worse autofocus, limited range of lens options, etc.
Also, as someone who has owned and used Nikon and the Leica Q + SL series, there was a hidden factor I didn't consider, which was how many situations I wouldn't take my Leica cameras into that I would take my Nikon cameras into. I travel a lot, and there are cities or situations where I'd never take a Leica. I'd take my Nikon gear to all of those situations. Maybe that's just me, but it was an additional limit.
I've sold off my Z8 kit and my SL2 and SL3 kit. If I were rebuying it would definitely by the Z8.
