Only a few states have no sales tax, e.g., Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon. If you are the end purchaser you will normally owe sales tax to your state.

We're just paying the pre-tariff price. Given how closely Canon Canada usually prices products to Canon USA, at least we didn't get screwed over this time with their otherwise usually very strong desire to maintain price-parity across the border.
And for anyone near the border thinking this would be a good drive over and buy type of purchase, you're going to pay at least 12-15% non-refundable tax (excluding Alberta at 5%) here, plus tariffs on your return, should you declare it. Sure, you can order it online, but then it's guaranteed you will pay tariffs on import. It's basically not worth it, and I think Canon Canada knows this will not tempt US buyers.

They're selling at the list price, but Midwest Photo (mpex.com) is including 2 years of Canon CarePak Plus with the purchase. I've always had good experiences with this store.
