I see plenty of photographers whining and making money on the U-Tube.

Are you currently using an A1? If so, I agree with you about the body

Have you tried holding the A1 II/A9 III body. A big improvement IMO

Only real complaint I have about the A1 II is the AF is not quite as good as the A9 III on my experience. But the latest firmware could fix that. Haven’t had a chance to put it through it’s paces though

If so, I can’t really think of much I’d wish for in a mark III. 50MP global shutter could be nice. Not sure how likely it is though

It is still too short and too narrow. Give me another cm in base height to use 4 human fingers and another cm+ in width between the mount and grip so that my knuckles are not smushed.

They absolutely need to start shrinking the cameras again. Zero reason to go bigger each time. People have nikon and canon if they want grandpa style bodies.

I know Sony is working on it. It it's not too late, here's what I think would be great to have:

1. 60 Mpix *global* shutter - it's a must-have

2. Body shape to be improver for better ergonomics

3. Ability to switch between saved settings with a "single click" - meaning I'd like to have a "dial override". For example, I have a portrait settings and landscape settings. Currently, one needs to change multiple dials to switch between the stored settings.

4. Reliability - while A1 is reliable, I had couple of situations when I slid and fell hard. One of my lenses

Why not get the A9III and call it a day?
I know I did and my old A1 got sold after a couple of days of using the A9III.

It’s a significant upgrade in my view.

If you want to use high resolution images, get the A7RV to pair with it.
I did that too. But the AF accuracy and speed is not in the same level as the A9III, so I get a little frustrated with it.
But truth be told, nothing is, not even the A1MarkII.

I am probably going to get rid of my A7RV and get another A9III.

I use my GFX100S II for landscape and portraits anyway.

It's too early for a1iii.

it will have by my guess:
- Global shutter, might be 50-60MP
- new SoC/AI chip
- maybe CFEA 4.0 support

My wish:
- Faster card: CFEB 4.0 + CFEA 4.0/SDII
- new battery with >50% capacity improve with same size/shape, 500 shots per charge by EVF
- faster star up
- bigger EVF, 1.0x for example

I would like auto exposure compensation, I guess someone will tell me I'm missing out on something but that's good I'll learn a new trick.
I would like an AF option that simply states it will follow the selected subject whatever, with no need to fine tune many other options, one box click.
Global shutter, 50megapixel, limitless buffer at 50fps.

Well, we better post our wishes when it's still early.

A1 to me is the most versatile camera without compromises. And I'm sure it will stay this way. Said that, I do require it to have 60 Mpix global shutter (and other things I put in my list) in order to stay the most versatile. Besides the obvious benefits of global shutter!

I agree, EVF might be improved too, but honestly I'm good with the current one.

BTW, I like the AWB mode in the current A1. The only other setting I use is when I shoot with strobes.

Also, any computational photography is not welcome. We have smartphones for that.

As to body shape and size - global shutter will eat battery for sure. I believe lots of people use A1 with a battery grip, which does not only provides better ergonomics but also contains 2 batteries. And this is really really handy!

Global shutter doesn’t seem to be any more hungry.

I would like to see a preview for focus stacking… and HDR

Otherwise you go home and the shots can be misaligned.

Is this considered computational photography

I really just want 60+ FPS and Canon level BEAF.
I don't care about a GS (unless that is the only way to push the FPS to 60+). I don't care about more than 50MP (although I'd take a few more if they provide).
Increased buffer size and/or faster card support to keep the buffer open. A 50MP 60FPS would be similar to the 24MP at 120FPS on the A9III. The A9III buffer at 120FPS is very limiting.

One other thing - when I shoot in low light conditions and the exposure is long (like, 1/13 and longer) I tend to push the shutter button very carefully. And the button does not have that "feeling" of a moment when it triggers the shot. I mean there must be a clear edge between before and after. And what happens I push the button multiple times (but very carefully). It might be only my feeling but...

I like the idea of auto exposure compensation
The camera knows when a subject is backlit or when the black cat is hiding in a dark alley so adjust accordingly using AI
Why do we have to touch that EV +/- all the time ?
If that can't be done then implement applying exposure compensation to recall function
I'd also like to see:
- longer lasting batteries
- better subject recognition when tracking it against a busy background or when obstacles are closer than the subject (a huge wish for birding)
- A larger AEL button a la AF-ON for it's easier to reach than AF-ON per my fingers
- A larger review button
- Faster wakeup time from turning on
- 60-80 Mpix sensor would be nice to have, not a must

If one is primarily an outdoor photographer (wildlife/landscape) wearing gloves in cold climates, "grandpa" bodies are very useful, along with "grandpa" buttons.

My request might be a strange one to ask for a massively fast autofocus camera, but I would LOVE for Sony to improve their manual focus aids like Canon and Nikon have done.

When the A1 III drops, I’ll likely be a customer since it may be the last camera I’ll ever need. But I really like my manual focus lenses and if they would just add those aids I’d be a happy man. Better yet, do a firmware upgrade for my A7R5 to add those manual focus aids!

I agree completely on the MF aids. Sony has a fantastic range of MF lenses available and I'd love a firmware update on my a7r V to add something similar to the Nikon MF implementation.
