Yesterday was the NYC Marathon road race, held once a year, with thousands of people gathered here and spreading themselves around the path of the race through the five boroughs. On the subway, it was a tight squeeze for people moving around.

One of the big differences, DF, is many people are fare beaters, jumping the turnstyles or going through the emergency door without paying. Last week I saw one person opening the door and about 20 people following him in without paying. It's gotten so bad that in some stations they've hired security guards to enforce that people are paying the fare.
