In Feb this year, I was able to visit Africa for the first time and spend a few days in Amboseli and thanks to pointers from artsupreme, I was able to spend some quality time photographing Craig, I had 2 days with him, and while light was not quite what I had hoped for, it was an experience of a lifetime to be around such a gentle giant.
Grateful for any feedback that you share - what can be done better - any words of advice, which if any would you be excited to hang on your wall (help me choose which photos make it to f&f yearly calendar)
Just wonderful, I really like the one with orange sky and the up close second shot... I got the impression of great age on that shot, not a young bull? Really great stuff. Must have been a heck of a fun trip.

Thank you Eric - it was a trip of a lifetime, didn't know what to expect, everything was new. #2 is Craig, the 52 year old bull elephant.

Great series! I love the one of Craig kicking up dirt. And you had some gorgeous sunsets, as well.
thank you - I had 2 sunsets in 12 days with cooperative subjects, 1 in Amboseli, (without Craig but other elephants) and 1 in mara with elephants.

Wow! It is so heartening to see them at peace with people. I love ecotourism, the greatest hope for wildlife.
They are all outstanding images.

Yes it is - elephant behavior varies quite a bit based on their experience with humans, very few areas where you can get this close to them without being challenged.
Good to get these shots while you can. The locals are bringing in cattle and attracting lions to the area which is not good for the normal balance with wildlife.
The images without the hills in the background are much stronger as a result.
John
thanks John.

Yes, it was an incredible experience; The local tribes though are doing the best they can.
