A heartbreaking week here...our beloved Louie was found deceased by a neighbor while I was away on a business trip. I took this photo of him on Monday just before I left. It was rare he'd sit still when a camera was close, opting instead to run over for some love.
He came with our house and we are so happy he adopted us while he was here for the last 5 years. Anyone who has had an orange boy will know what huge personalities they tend to have, and Lou was no exception. He was just the friend we needed as we adjusted to a totally new pace of life and chapter of our lives.
No one in the neighborhood knew where he came from or how old he was...they just all knew him by name and recognized him as the friendly guy that would keep the foxes in order, play with dogs 90lbs heavier than him, and let you hold him for as long as you wanted.
Oh man, Louie was a looker for sure. @RoamingScott, sorry about your loss. Both of your were lucky to have found one another and spend some quality time together. Treasure the memories and let time heal the sorrow.
I extend my deepest condolences also Scott! The loss can be excruciating! Louie will be waiting for you at the "Rainbow Bridge". Then the love will be everlasting! and never ending.
Dan
Thank you Larry, and you're right, it's ALWAYS too soon.

Never known a cat loved by more people, including our 2 dogs!

Thank you! Luckily I have a volume of photos and videos of his antics with the family. He'll be talked about for the rest of our lives.

Thank you Dan! The first time I read the Rainbow Bridge, it broke me, so saving that re-read for another day.

I believe it was here on FM when I first was a "lurker" and found the "Rainbow Bridge". It is sobering! A part of one's soul is lost with each passing. But let's relish in the thought that we will be one day reunited with these souls!

I'm so sorry for your loss Scott, my sincere condolences. Our pets become such a big part of our lives, and that makes it so hard to say goodbye. It sounds like you helped give him an amazing life - and it sounds like he was a special soul. Losing a companion like Louie leaves such a big space behind. I hope the memories and photos become a comfort.
Sorry to hear of the loss Scott. Never a good day to lose a beloved pet, especially one who adopts you (and to be fair, pretty sure that cats always choose the human, not the other way around).
