p.1 #1 · Sony A9 bbf one button with subject detection and one without

With the Sony A9 using back button focus, I want one button with subject detection and one without it. Same other settings. I've tried the register custom shoot set and assigned it to the AEL button. while it does work, there is a delay between pressing the button and the start of autofocus. I'd like to avoid that.

I was able to get it to work on the A9iii b/c i could assign subject recognition on + AF to the AF button, and then turn off subject recognition overall. The AEL button is assigned to AF-ON and then it works without recognition. when i press the AF button i automatically (and quickly) get subject recognition + AF.

Any ideas how to do that with the original A9?

Thanks

Yes. Unfortunately those are slow with the AF. There's a slight delay between pressing the assigned custom button and AF starting. Maybe not a second lag like this guy (last post) but certainly noticeable.

Also, I don't see a subject detection setting within the settings that I can change for custom hold.
