So theoretically I would have been sent a brand new shiny M EV1 today had the government shutdown not torpedoed the release. How you ask?
The shutdown means that the FCC folks responsible for approving the wireless transceiver are furloughed. Which means no new cameras or other wireless device can be approved until they are back on the job. So the rest of the world is getting theirs.
Jono Slack's article was exactly what I expected. Not a perfect alternative to the rangefinder Ms, but good enough.
I wait to get potentially a used EV1 in a number of years...not affected then by any of this and hopfully quite significantly depreciated in price tag *shrug*

Oh I learned to be patient when it comes to photo gear acquisition - I waited more than 4 years to find the right deal for the Leica 35/2.0 Vers. IV lens, and this was in 2018! Did the same to get my M 240 based cameras which I am still using and enjoying. With Leica I stay at least 2 generations in technology behind to make the value to vest in seen as appropriate to my eyes.

Pretty much same here. The only Leica I've paid full retail on was the original Monochrom. Just couldn't resist it. Now, after all these years it remains my most expensive camera purchase.

I have never purchased anything from Leica brand new. Not even once. And I have six M cameras and multiple Leica M lenses!
it was a gift from G-D that we couldn't purchase the camera until the rest of the world experienced the release now we know the camera is not a must have.
You should be able to buy the M EV1 from All Around Camera in Hong Kong via eBay (I don't know if you can buy directly from them or not). They will cover the tariffs. I have purchased from them before and was very satisfied with my purchase.
