Do many of you use your fuji equipment for Astro photography. If so what camera and lens do you use. Looking forward to the discussion on this would love to see some samples of your photos.
Not seriously, but have had some fun with mine. The shot below was a single frame, 8 second exposure using the 8-16 f2.8 zoom at 12mm f2.8, ISO 6400 on the XH2. Obviously not an optimal kit, but it at least sort of works. Using a motor tracker and image stacking, this camera would be far better, but that's more work than I want to put into it.
If I were to get into serious astrophotography, I would at the very least want a faster but very good optically performing lens. The current crop of Fuji primes won't cut it. Perhaps (I hope?) the new Sigma 12mm f1.4 turns out to be good enough.
Milky Way photos from Ruby Beach on Washington state's northern coast. I'm a very infrequent Milky Way photographer and didn't think I was performing up to my usual capabilities on this outing. So take these for what you think they are worth. I can't confirm this since I'm not at home just now, but I believe I used Topaz to denoise at least the GFX image.
Taken with the GFX100RF.
Obviously, an f/4 lens is not normally used for astro. But I was fairly satisfied with the image. I think during post processing, I was more pleased with the resulting colors and I liked the 4:3 aspect ratio. Milky Way over Ruby Beach II by Stephen Shoff, on Flickr

Presented due the reference to the Sigma Lens above. Obviously, the colors don't match. I couldn't get the two images to match. I think the reason for the longer than usual exposure time with this faster lens was because I think I tend to under-expose these images so I wanted to see how a more brightly exposed image was to work with. I prefer this one, but only for the timing and composition.
