I usually go to Ricketts Glen State Park twice in autumn, but this year I could only make it once. What was a wet spring, turned into a dry late summer and early autumn, and the foliage took a beating for it. I was a little late for the color, but I don't think the color was spectacular this year anyway.
And it was a Saturday, which tends to make the park super busy with tons of people hiking the trail. It started off cloudy and calm, but turned to sunny and breezy with some periods where clouds would bring back some shade, along with calmer winds.

Well done Tim The spray got in my eyes at Triangle Falls.
Thank you! Yes, I had to clear the filter a few times, and my feet were pretty numb. There were a lot of people walking the trail, so I had to wait quite a bit until they hiked through.

Tim, on my first trip to Rickets Glen I parked at the top and made my way to the bottom, then I realized I had to hike back to the top, and I was wearing blue jeans. I thought I was going to die and took to Aleve and 2 bottles of gatoraide to stop from cramping during the drive back to Long Island.`
I started my second trip from the bottom and wore light pants that stretched and felt soled wading boots.

Oh, I remember it well
Yes, it is quite a hike! I parked up at the Lake Rose lot and went down the Ganoga Glen side (quickest way to a waterfall when parking where I did). I usually go across the Highland Trail first and do the loop clockwise. I didn't hit the 3 falls below Waters Meet, just worked my way back up the Glen Leigh side and back across the Highland Trail. I'm always pooped after that hike. I had convertible pants and all synthetic clothes. By the end I had taken the bottom leg portions off and I was down to basically shorts and a short sleeve shirt. It got pretty mild later in the day. I use Astral canyoneering boots, which generally keep me vertical.
I am still sore today.
Hope you have some great trips back there in the future, it's truly a gem!

Thank you for capturing the beauty of these falls and sharing, Tim. I have yet to go there and need to make it over some autumn or spring.
Thanks Ross, it's an amazing place. Ping me direct if you want to know generally when the best fall/spring timeframes are.
Tim, what a beautiful state park! I love waterfalls and photographing is a pure joy. Your choice of shutter speed is perfect. Love the texture, details and composition. Well done 👍🏻

It's one of my favorite places to go. I normally shoot in the 1-3 second range, but later in the morning it wasn't as calm...so I had to shorten it a bit. Thanks again!
Beautiful set Tim. You got some lovely light and used it well. I was there Tuesday and the high pressure made the light quite unforgiving and my results were not nearly as good. I definitely need to try again in the spring!
