p.1 #1 · A new short hike in the mountains

I had a little bit of time this past weekend (it's been pretty busy lately) and so I ran up the mountain and tried a new hike that took me through fields of manzanitas (I'll be back just to shoot there) along a ridge to a great rock outcropping that turns out is one that I've shot many times from other vantage points along the Catalina Highway. It was mostly an exploratory trip this time but I got a couple of good shots. I'll be back to work the site some more soon, for sure.

#1: This is my favorite from the day

#2: This is another look at the same rocks. I'm still debating whether this needs to be B&W, but something about the color on the rocks keeps me from making the conversion.

As always, CC are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

When I first started scrolling down your large first image I thought you had inadvertently posted a sideways mountain image . The rocks are very cool in that one, but the bald sky detracts for me. Love the color one, which would also look good in B&W I would think. Why not try?

The second is my preference. I suggest you resize your images to fit on a 4k monitor or even better 1080.

Thanks! I actually was originally hoping for no clouds at all in the first one to make it more abstract, but I do get your point as well. As for the second shot, I have processed it for B&W as well. I love it that way too. It's tough to choose one over the other.

Thanks! Honestly I always struggle on sizing. I think it has some thing to do with new high resolution monitors (4k, 5k, etc.). Web browsers sometimes display images with pixel doubling for newer monitors so that images posted for older (1080) displays don't look too small on modern displays, but then they don't look as sharp. Of course, if you size the image for the newer monitors, then they're waaaaay to large for 1080 monitors. Plus I never know what the browser is going to do.

If you've got any pointers I would love to learn how to get the size I want across all monitors.
