JMO, but I find shots of 'only the moon' are trite and boring. Just look at all the moon shots posted on social media today that look so similar. For me I always find moon shots more interesting when something is also in the foreground.
As to size or color of the moon, those appear to vary more when the moon is near the horizon. When looking at the moon when it is directly overhead I doubt you could tell if it was the closest or furthest distance from the earth. In photographs it is pretty simple to change the size and color of the moon.
Again, just my opinion.
Probably took this shot of the moon months ago, and the sandhill cranes several days ago. The moon was the same size it has been for millions of years.
Personally, I’m always in awe of the moon and forget to photograph it unless it’s some crazy red moon or something. Just full of admiration - lunatic indeed (-:
