Really gorgeous. I love forests but I struggle to find compositions that have balance and cohesion. These are all really captivating. Nailed the color balance too.

I greatly appreciate your comment! I have always found forest photography challenging. The forest is chaotic and it can be very difficult to bring order and aesthetically pleasing form to that. There are many scenes I have to pass by because I can’t make them work. The telephoto zooms have helped me a lot, as I often find tree compositions look better when further away.

Awesome, I’ve been thinking about traveling out there later this month to take in the fall colors
Thanks! Fall season in the mountains of Colorado and Utah is the last week of September and first week of October. The first sizable fall storm has been moving through this weekend and aspen color will be gone in a few more days. So the last half of October won’t have any mountain color (aspens and maples) but the cottonwoods will be turning yellow in canyon bottoms and river beds. And the final color show in Utah is inside Zion Canyon in early November, but vehicles are not allowed so it’s either riding the shuttle system or a bike.
Okay, good to know. Thanks for the info. I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but do you have any other recommended areas to travel out there and the surrounding states? I’ve never been there before
Ross, these are absolute eye candy! You are a master of the craft. Especially when you choose an extended stay in a location. It pays off in spades! Just wonderful. Steve

Lovely series, seems like you timed it perfect.
If you don't mind sharing, roughly where in UT was this? And the time the images were taken is first week of October?
Thank you, Boyan! I began on September 22 with base campground in Salt Lake City and explored most of the canyons out of there (such as Big and Little Cottonwoods canyons) for 9 days. Then I moved base camp further south and scouted areas like Fish Lake and many mountain roads such as scenic highway 14 for about 11 days. In general, I find there is good mountain color in Utah in the last week of September and first week of October, with some late autumn scenes usually continuing into 2nd week of Oct.
