Lots of geat color, Ross. All the reds almost make it look like the midwest or east coast! What are your favorite 3?
Thanks Monica for asking that question, I really appreciate you giving me a chance to ponder that and express the answer. Looking over the twelve again, the three that are most special to my heart are:
#1 “My aspen heaven” - I am always searching for big, white aspen trunks and I found these nestled in a shock of the orange/red/yellow colors that have been showing up in this severe drought, and it was off a dirt road that is like an old friend where I have produced other favorite work over the years. The end result pleases my eyes so much and it will be printed.
#3 “Trees in relationship” - I keep coming back to this image and it’s speaking a message to me, the big pine seemingly reaching out its arms to its aspen brethren, both very different trees but living in harmony, community.
#11 “Filled with light and joy” - this is technically not the best of the compositions but the image holds a lot of joyous memories for me, it was the first small grove of aspens I hiked into on this trip off a backroad away from all people, and the feeling of glorious glowing light was almost unreal. I patted the solid tree trunks and spoke gratitude to them for their beauty and wished them many more healthy years. Sure, that’s weird, but it flowed out of the connection and the awe & wonder I was feeling.

It doesn't get any better than these, Ross! What a beautiful set of images, and it doesn't look like the drought affected the colors that much.
Thank you very much for your kind words, Al! Some areas have looked dull and nearly dead, particularly some maples, but I’m fascinated how the aspens responded.
