p.1 #1 · Sony 70-200 GMii 2.8 just loses connectivity
My lightly used 70-200 constantly loses connection from the body- the aperture reads "F" and nothing else, I turn off the camera and sometimes it comes back other times it doesn't. I have cleaned the contacts and made sure the firmware is updated on the lens and each body(A1, A9ii and A9iii) and nothing helps. I joined Sony Pro Services and sent it in-well it's a $710 fix AFTER the Professional discount. Here's their finding-
To Be Replaced:
CL-1085 Mount Board Assembly-Connection/Focus issue
Mount Assembly-Connection/Focus issue
a lot of money but its a $3k lens-anyone else have this issue

No, not yet, but you have managed to scare the heck out of me though, so thanks for that!
Sounds like a loose connection to the board. Ugh! Back in the day when I did board level repair work, whenever I'd assemble stuff that I knew could be jostled and/or would be hard to take apart later, I always used a tiny dot of clear silicone RTV on any connectors to keep them from coming loose. If it was a long lead wire, I'd also put a dot at a mid point of the wire to some harmless area to act as a strain relief against "whip" of the wire also.
Hoping yours was just assembled on a late Friday afternoon or some other fluke... It's a great lens and well worth repair, even if somewhat disappointing.

I have a buddy with the same lens and same issue, having it dangling from a harness doesn't seem to help, although for a $3k lens the amount of time I use it it should last for 100 years.
