Nice pics. I’m definitely having a very hard time deciding on this or the 25-200 now that I know the trade offs of both. The Sigma seems to have a warmer color cast compared to the Tamron that appeals to me. And the corners on the 20-200 certainly look sharp enough for my needs I think. Decisions, decisions…

Tamron 25-200mm low F2.8 neutral color - can change using ISO and color adjustment at editing
Sigma 20-200mm wide angle and bit sharper - nothing can do for wide angle
what we can not do is wide angle <- reason for buying Sigma in my decision

Tough decision, I agree. I keep thinking of different lens options I'd take with each. Honestly, even on my last trip where I had my Tamron 17-28, I used that lens at 17mm quite a bit (even stitching a few times), which makes me wonder how often I'd be satisfied with just 20mm. If opting to bring a wider lens anyways, it somewhat negates the advantage of the Sigma, though avoiding lens changes is always a benefit.

For me it’s do I want the additional assignable button which I know I would use often based on past lenses, or the 20mm wide end which I will only occasionally use. Hmm….

We are the opposite on this part. I'd use 20mm often and occasionally use the button. But that sweet f/2.8 of the Tamron I managed some good portraits with it when I owned the 28-200mm which still makes this a challenging decision.

I've been using the Sony a5100 which has far fewer buttons/switches and will upgrade to the Sony a7C which still has less than the a7RC. Every lens should have a button.

I've rented this lens for an upcoming trip, and when I apply the manufacturer profile in Capture One, I don't see any geometry correction until I move the sliders. Indeed, viewing the RAWs in camera shows massive distortion.
Am I missing something about applying manufacturer corrections in camera?
Edit: For some reason I had distortion correction turned off in camera. The manufacturer profile does pretty well but it looks like there is still distortion at 20mm.
Hoping to have time to pit this lens against the 28-200mm in some test shots when I get back, time permitting.

That's an already widely known fact. The distortion at the wide end unfortunately is very complex.

Shot this one today of Bailey, our Keeshond. The image was shot at 200mm wide open at f/6.3. I processed it in Lightroom Classic, as Adobe has a lens profile for the Sigma 20-200. Anyway, I was pleased with the result.
That's at the roughest focal length of this lens and only gets better. For huge prints/extreme pixel peeping the Sony 20-70mm f/4 would fair much better. But for everyone else this is more than sufficient.
