If you transport this lens with body attached, what bag or case do you use that fits it? Only a few options that I can find. Total length is 22" and 7" diameter. I'll be traveling internationally. Thanks.
I wouldn't mount a body on the lens for transport. I know it is stretching it but if for whatever reasons there is a mishap, it could, again, it could put unnecessary strain on the mount. I always put the lens and body separately on transit. Again, maybe I am overly cautious here.
I second that. A GuraGear Kiboko 30L is my go to for international travel, although it's a backpack and not on wheels. I would not mount the body while traveling.
Thanks for the tips. Good idea to not mount the body for transport. However, when I am at destination and driving or hiking around an area where I will pull out the camera quite often, the body needs to be attached. So a smaller bag is needed. Glass Taxi is too short. I'm looking at Kinesis. 21 -22" x 7.5 ID is optimal.
TT Glass Limo accommodates your setup but barely. The bag is stretched by quite a bit that way. So, I am not sure about using that bag for that purpose. While at the site or hiking around, I carry my 600mm plus whatever camera body using the strap that comes with the lens across my body, not only on the shoulder, in other words. The strap is wide and padded and as such, it is quite comfortable carrying your gear that way. You will be faster and ready to get into action rather than having to put the bag down, to take your gear out of the bag and to set it up. I did that each time on several trips to Costa Rica and Ecuador without encountering any issues.
BTW, I do have a lens protection cover/camo, like lens coat, RolanPro or similar on the lens but not the body. And that gives sufficient protection for my gear, I would think. Just my honest opinion ....
I think you are onto it here, Joshua. I’ll keep the lens and body separate and they will fit into my think tank roller derby for air travel. But think tank makes a long lens case that fits a Sony body with the 600 perfectly. I’ll keep that in my check bag full of other stuff and then move the combo into it once I get to my hotel and travel around the area photographing using that bag. Next one for me is Costa Rica in November. But I hope to be doing some local avian imaging before that. Appreciate your great replies, thank you.

The Nya-Evo 60C with XL insert fits the camera/lens mounted and is supposedly carry-on compatible. You also have the option with that bag to access from the top and pull the camera/lens straight out the top.
Worth checking out this new Think Tank bag. Might be too long for carry on but I never see length get checked but I don't fly very often now. I've got one on order:
I have 3 bags for this, depending on the way I'll be using the lens.
The first is a Kinesis L511. Can fit a body, TC and body and be barely carry-on compliant in most places (55cm height). Downside is that it can't really hold anything else. It's the only solution I could find that fits an attached body and still be under carryon size. I feel pretty secure about using it with a body attached as it's got an addon collar which cushions the mount stress point, such that the body is pretty much floating. I usually stuff this case into a hiking backpack as additional protection for the 600 GM.
Next is the Glass Limo. It slightly bulges, but I've gotten it into a state where I can carry internally both 1.4x and 2.0x TCs, a Sony A7CR, a 24-70 GM2 and a gripped A1. I use this for more sedate trips where I can separate the lens and body without worry. Size-wise, it's more compact than the other one and can be carry-on compliant - the other has no chance of carry-on.
Last is a roller, the Think Tank International. It's the lightest roller that can fit the 600 GM I can find, but it bulges a slight bit so if you're on a budget airline which measures with a cage, you might fail. Otherwise, I can have it fit a gripped body, 600 GM, both TCs, 70-200 GM2 and either an extra lens or gripped body.
