Ordered from BH on Aug 26th, received Sep 26th, which was 1-2 weeks before the date provided by BH…unboxed, charged the battery and briefly handled…very very first impressions, the original X2D is better looking, but the joy-stick is a welcome addition…received just in-time for a trip, hopefully will get to use, I only the 55v lens and will have to make do…extra large Q43 I guess…will provide updates if have anything worthwhile to share.

..haha, yea - I took a look on their website yesterday and saw it for the first time, and was immediately underwhelmed, it almost looks "cheaper" with the lighter color.
I unfortunately was not able to receive mine before my trip to Seoul, but luckily, I found a DJI store that just received stock on my last full day there, and I picked it up in Seoul for my second leg of the trip in Tokyo. The stock literally came in that morning, and the one that hasn't been claimed was sitting in the manager's office waiting to be added to inventory.
The finish on the camera is interesting. It has more of a matte/sand blasted finish that feels more sturdy, and softer things will 100% rub off onto the camera, which honestly is a bit annoying. I've also never experienced magnetized compartment doors, and it feels so good. I came from X1D II and I'd say the design language is about the same, but without the contrasting color on the name (like X2D), it definitely is a bit more under the radar (if the orange shutter button can ever be under the radar).
I prefer the new colour. Each to their own. The Earth Explorer is the best looking. Actually, the X1D series are the best looking. But the benefits of the screen and IBIS outweigh the slim form factor for me.
As for build, I see zero difference. The new grip is much grippier, which means less hand fatigue. The doors are better but I had no issues with my X2D bodies either.
Maybe the paint is more durable? Time will tell. It's not something I'm fussy about.
It's still feels/looks better than any other system I own. That's for sure.
Yeah, even though the original looks better to me, the X2Dii is no slouch, both are beautiful, and it feels that much more refined…
