p.2 #2 · Boryoza GF-NZ Auto Foucs Lens Adapter -- can someone explain?
I ran a brick-wall test to see whether the built-in distortion corrections for the GF lenses still work when the lenses are used on a Nikon body via the adapter. I tested the 23mm, 30mm, 45mm, 20–35mm, and 45–100mm.
In Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom, the corrections are not working. When the lenses are mounted on the Nikon, the Lens Corrections panel shows “Built-in,” but it does not detect the lens make/model the way it does on a GFX body. Somewhere in the hand-off, the embedded profile isn’t coming through.
Capture One behaves differently. You can manually select the correct GF lens profile from the dropdown, and the distortion correction works properly for all the lenses except the 20–35mm, which isn’t listed and falls back to the built-in data.
For what it’s worth, the fixed-focal-length GF lenses have very minimal distortion, so the lack of correction isn’t a big deal with those. But the zooms—especially the 20–35 and 45–100—show noticeably more distortion, so proper profiles matter a lot more there.
My guess is that the EXIF isn’t being passed correctly, or Adobe’s pipeline is expecting a Fuji-body + GF-lens combo before it enables the corrections. With the Nikon + GF adapter in the mix, it seems to break the chain.
Hopefully this is something that could be addressed in a future firmware update.

Nice shot with the Bald Eagle,
how is your experience so far with the adapter ?
I own the GF 500mm and got a Nikon Zr, I suppose it works well since you posted new picture, seriously considering it instead of buying a Z 400mm 4.5
Thanks for the kind words, I'm thrilled with the adapter on the z8 especially since I was already invested in the GFX system with multiple primes including the GF 500mm and 1.4x TC. Access to higher, blackout-free fps and solid AF on the z8 for birds particularly has been my main interest. Since you already own the GF 500 and probably others, it makes a ton of sense to try the adapter out for minimal marginal cost to access prime performance on your ZR, if you're comfortable with the weight on the small(er) body.
My one concern is unknown weather sealing, which is probably true for all adapters, so I take it out only in moderate to good weather, and switch to the z 180-600mm for better sealing. So far build quality feels solid, but I protect it in a bag a bit more than my z-zoom which I tend to sling over my back to carry. I contemplated and rented the z 600 S PF and found it superior to the z 180-600mm, but with the adapter and GF 500 +/- 1.4x TC I've lost interest in adding the z tele primes, if that helps. The GF lenses themselves do not autofocus as fast as the Z equivalents, to be honest, but for my use case even with action shots I am more than satisfied with the tradeoff considering my primary GFX system focus. Interested to hear what your decision is!

I received the Adapter a week ago, so far, it's fine with the Zr.
the GF 500 is not the fastest lens when it comes to AF, but the tracking works great. I would not recommend to buy the GF lens if you don't own it. But having both system and using the Zr more as a video tool. This is worth it! Thanks for the feedback!
