Nice, sharp close-up of this 'handsome' guy.
I never really appreciated these vultures until I attended a 'raptor demonstration' in Rockport, TX a couple years back. The demo was put on by a raptor rescue group called "Sky Kings". The guy doing the demo had a Black Headed Turkey Vulture, and went on to say it was one of his favorite birds because of its intelligence and personality -- he did exhibit both. They tend to get a 'bad rap', but perform an invaluable service, as Nature's 'Trash Collectors'.
My wife and I are headed down to Rockport tomorrow for Hummingbirds, and will attend this demonstration again.
