Spectacular conditions a couple days ago in the Elk Mountain Range. It was overcast and rainy all day but I could see that it was beginning to clear to the west. And as soon as the sun dropped below a large cloud bank it lit up the landscape with spectacular drama and color. And to top it off a rainbow emerged that was probably the best rainbow I have ever witnessed.

I appreciate the kind words, I almost left the area since I didn't think much was happening at first, but had a hunch once I saw it clearing to the west. Glad I stayed!

Wow, this must have been a great experience shooting this scene! I can imagine your anticipation and excitement leading up to the edit session.
Great photos, I like them all but #1 is my favorite.
Thank you Dan, that first one is my favorite too. I almost get overly excited when in these situations! The dramatic light only lasted about 10-15 minutes so was scrambling a bit on what to frame up because it all looked spectacular. It was a great experience overall and I really enjoyed being there capturing it.

You can always hope for something special to happen when it's overcast and rainy, very nice series
You're so right! Some of my favorite landscape images I've ever captured were right as storms were moving in or clearing out. Lot's of unpredictable drama with stormy weather. Thanks for the kind words!
