p.1 #1 · Big Pine Lakes - Eastern Sierra - July 2025

Had to share a few shots from a recent backpacking trip to Big Pine Lakes in the Eastern Sierra. I woke up before everyone else and captured the blue hour along with sunrise, and some sunsets while we were there.

Given the focus on weight with backpacking I took the Fuji GFX100RF and an Oben tripod. The 100MP sensor, which is shared with the X2D is just incredible for color depth and dynamic range.

Fantastic shots. On the second one, is that a reflection in a small pool of water on the rock?

We had a late afternoon storm that came through - lots of graupel for well over an hour. By sunset it had melted on most of the rocks and I was able to capture the reflection in a really tiny pool of water on the rock. I also got this photo of a similar reflection of another peak (Two Eagle Peak IIRC).
